A Gift of Words

The Gift of Giving

Charities are always asking for monetary donations, and indirectly, when one gives money to a charity, they are giving of their time, since they actually had to go out and earn the money. Time being a precious gift of God, and then using that gift as well as the money to pay it forward, is a double gift of giving. For those of us who have less money, but volunteer their time, it is a wonderful selfless act. So many people are in need of our time, so many people are in need of our giving.

Giving comes in many forms which is wonderful because then we can cover all aspects of the spectrum of giving. Giving of advice can change the recipient’s life. Funnily enough, giving bad advice is equally giving because the adviser took the time, and often the advice then becomes a teaching tool.

The giving of Love, Time, Joy, the list is endless. Giving anything is a generous thing. We are so caught up in the seasons of giving that we forget that we can give a little every day. Give a smile, give a hug, give a word, give a hoot (care about something).

Below is impact-full:

>>>>A young man was passing by a little beggar boy on the street. The little boy had his hands out for food, and the man was so touched that he went over to the street vendor stall and purchased enough food to last the boy a week. When he approached the boy and handed the boy the food, he asked the boy where his mommy was. The boy replied that his mommy was sick. Each day when the man passed and saw the boy, he bought him food. Eventually the boy was never seen again by the man.

Years later, as the man aged, he himself, just a lowly man, became ill and had to go into the hospital for surgery. Surgery was not free, and in order for the man to have his surgery, he had sold his home and was going to move into an old age home for the poor, for he had no relatives to support him.

After the surgery, two weeks later when the man was getting ready to be discharged from the hospital, he knew that he would have to pay his bill. As he was sitting in the wheelchair, waiting for his bill, which the surgeon was writing up, he hoped the bill would not be more than what he sold his house for. The doctor finally handed him the bill for the amount of $0 dollars, marked paid. The old man looked up and said to the doctor.

“How can this be?”

The doctor said, “When I was a young boy begging on the street, many times you stopped and gave me food so my family would not starve. Because of this, my mother got better, and was able to return to work and provide me with an education, so I could become a doctor. I now heal people. I never had a chance to thank you for giving me this opportunity.”

The man wept and thanked the doctor, then was wheeled out by the nurse. He was able to spend the rest of his days being better cared for
