A Gift of Words

Gift of Knowledge

They say knowledge is power. Our brains have an incredible capacity to absorb information so much so that no one in the history of mankind has ever figured out what that capacity is.

Clinical Neurology Specialists say; By the estimated numbers: The human brain’s memory capacity in the average adult can store trillions of bytes of information. In a Stanford Study, it was reported that the cerebral cortex alone has 125 trillion synapses. In another study, it was reported that 1 synapse can store 4.7 bits of information. Neurons are the cells which process and transmit messages within the brain, and synapses are the bridges between neurons which carry the transmitted messages. Running the numbers – 125 trillion synapses – 4.7 bits/synapse, and about 1 trillion bytes equaling 1 TB (Terabyte). Blah blah blah.............

So God is great!

He gave us the unlimited capacity to acquire knowledge. Isn’t it amazing that a baby from birth, until 3 years old can learn motor skills, like walking, running, coordination, among a few. They also can learn two or more languages at the same time. Not just this, but their mimicry and absorption of situations, I don’t know about you, leave me Gobsmacked!

There is a dark side to knowledge in that it can be used against us. There is mind control, hypnosis, and fake news, to name a few that can pollute even the most subjective minds.

Please watch the above video where a magician takes a passer-by into an audience and convinces this passer-by that he is invisible. He tried this twice in a row and succeeded in convincing both people that no one could see them.

So, knowledge can heal, maim, teach, kill, inspire, like a seesaw every day we acquire knowledge. What we do with that knowledge though is key.

If a child is given more positive input from day one, in that the knowledge they gain is about love, care, empathy, politeness, giving, spiritual, etc… they have a better chance of growing up using positive attributes based on the outset of the knowledge they gleaned.

If a child contrary to the input of positive knowledge grows up in a negative, chaotic, uncaring environment then the basis is naturally set for a more negative, troublesome use of knowledge based on the negative upbringing. There are exceptions to this, because every so often we wonder how a child who was immersed in such terrible upbringing situations can come out beautiful but by the miracles of God.

Knowledge gives us the ability to think critically, to form ideas, use our awareness, and use our meta-cognition ("thinking about thinking", "knowing about knowing", and becoming "aware of one's awareness") confusing eh? You are already meta-cognitive! In no school have I ever heard of a subject being taught about passing on knowledge. Definitely in religious teachings, but how many kids actually go to Sunday school anymore. It’s up to us to show our kids the way to pass on positive teachings.

The gift of knowledge is an intention from God for us to gain wisdom, and to pass this wisdom on, to use the knowledge for the betterment of our whole planet and definitely not for self-satisfaction. Look around you, everywhere. Most of our knowledge is used for gains of personal use.

I am guilty.
